Part-Time House Manager & Family AssistantLocation: Houston, TX 77042Employment Type: Part-time | 15 hours per week guaranteedSchedule: 3 days per week, 5 hours per day, daytime hours ending by 3:30pm. Preferred days are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with flexibility to exchange for a Tuesday/Friday as needed. Occasional evening and overnight childcare opportunities available for additional hours.Compensation: $28–$32 per hour, depending on experience.Start Date: Mid-to-late August 2026About Our FamilyWe are a busy, warm, and high-energy household in the West Houston / Memorial area. Both parents work full-time in demanding careers — one with an office just minutes away, the other commuting across the city. Our home is the kind of place where the calendar is always full, the house is lively, and there is never a dull moment.
We have two spirited, energetic boys who bring so much joy and keep life interesting. One of our sons has unique learning and sensory needs, and we are deeply committed to supporting him in every area of life — from appointments and routines to simply making sure he feels safe, loved, and celebrated for exactly who he is.Our extended family is a real and active presence in our home. Grandma and auntie are deeply involved in the kids' daily lives and regularly handle after-school pickups and afternoon time together. Whoever joins our team will naturally be coordinating and building a warm relationship with them as well — they are part of the fabric of this household. This role is about the day-to-day rhythm and managing the details that fall through the cracks when two working parents are running at full speed. We are a progressive, values-forward household and we are looking for someone who shares that spirit.
We want to walk through the door to a calm, reset home and trust that someone capable and confident is helping us get there.Who You Are / What We're Looking ForYou are the kind of person who walks into a room and spots what needs to be done without being asked. You are self-sufficient, proactive, and confident in your work — you see a problem, handle it if you can, and loop in the family when a decision is needed. You genuinely enjoy being around kids and bring warmth and ease to every interaction, meeting each child where they are and making them feel seen and loved. You are comfortable in a lively, talkative household and enjoy that energy. You understand what it means to support a neurodivergent child and you do so with patience, consistency, and without judgment. You communicate directly and efficiently, and you do not take it personally when your employer is moving fast and being brief.
You understand the balance between being a trusted part of the family and maintaining professional boundaries. You are organized and systems-minded, thinking ahead so things do not have to be asked twice. You take real ownership of your role and pride in the work you do.Key ResponsibilitiesLaundry & Linen CareWash, fold, and put away all laundry for the parents; wash and fold children's laundry and leave neatly for kids to put away themselvesWash and fold bed linens following housekeeper bedding changesOccasional ironing/steamingMaintain a tidy, well-stocked laundry area and notify when supplies are running lowHandle monthly dry cleaning drop-off and pickupHousehold Organization & MaintenancePerform daily household resets — beds made, couch cushions tidy, kitchen counters cleared, and common areas refreshedPrep home before scheduled housekeeper visitsCreate and maintain household organization systems (playroom, mudroom, kitchen, pantry, filing cabinet, decor closet, water bottles, and snacks)Manage seasonal clothing swaps and coordinate storage as neededAssist with holiday decor takedown and decor closet organizationChange batteries, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries as neededMonthly toy rotation and removal of outgrown or unused itemsInventory & ErrandsRestock pantry, fridge, and household supplies through in-person shoppingMaintain a running household supply list using the family's Alexa grocery systemManage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)Handle returns (priority task), pharmacy and prescription pickups, and monthly dry cleaningOpen and sort incoming packages; set out contents for family review and put items away as appropriateBreak down and recycle cardboard boxesMeal SupportPrepare school lunches for the children on days without hot lunch, coordinating with the monthly school lunch calendarLearn family staple items and maintain a stocked, organized fridge and pantryMake sure family has all ingredients for recipes for dinners for the weekAssist with kitchen clean-up and general kitchen maintenanceFamily SupportProvide pre-planned, as-needed pickup and drop-off support, particularly for summer camp logistics and occasional school-year appointmentsAssist with getting children to occupational therapy and tutoring appointments as neededHelp maintain school schedules- including free dress days, field trip days, half days, etc.Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacksHandle prescription pickups and other kid-related errandsProvide occasional light supervision and back-up childcare during summer hours; open to Saturday evening babysitting and overnights for additional hoursPack children for family trips; assist with unpacking and post-travel laundryBuild warm, consistent relationships with the children and coordinate naturally with extended family members who are regularly present in the homeVendor & Property OversightResearch and coordinate vendors for home repairs and maintenance needs — including handyman, electrical, paint, and attic insulation projectsGather a minimum of 3 quotes per project, coordinate appointment scheduling, and present options to the family before any booking is confirmedDeep Cleaning & Special ProjectsPerform occasional targeted deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards, wall scuffs, paint touch-ups)Refresh garage, mudroom, and entry areas as neededClean and maintain humidifiers, air purifiers, and air filtersAssist with closet organization, clothing swap-outs, mudroom shelving, and other ongoing organizational projectsPerform bi-weekly partial water change for turtle aquarium using siphon systemAssist with gift purchasing and wrapping for birthdays, holidays, and special occasionsAdministrative & Personal Assistant SupportHelp manage the family's Skylight calendar, including children's appointmentsCoordinate event and appointment scheduling as neededAssist with occasional family vehicle fueling, organizing, and coordinating oil changes or car washes as neededHow to ApplyPlease submit the following to be considered for this role:A short intro letter telling us a little about yourself and why you'd be a great fitAn updated resumeThree professional references with contact informationPlease note: this role requires a background check. When you apply with Sage Haus, you'll also be added to our candidate community email list so we can share hiring updates, resources, and opportunities.
