The instructor's responsibilities include didactic, lab and clinical instruction and evaluation.Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring, and summer. Postings close yearly and to maintain your application within the system, you will need to re-apply each year.Essential Duties:Prepare and update course syllabi for each course taughtProvide instruction that covers the curriculum for assigned classesAssure compliance with program expectations and support program outcomesPerform student evaluation and use continuous quality improvement techniques to determine the effectiveness of instruction and student success.Discuss with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to the learning experienceResponsible for assisting the student to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the health care professionMaintain accurate student records.Identify students needing assistance and refer/aid as neededCreate a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalismCreate reports as requested by the Director of Medical Laboratory Technician and the Dean of Health Professions at NWACCParticipate in program development activitiesAssist in the enforcement of program regulations and report student conduct violations.Cultivate a personal interest in communities served by the program and participate when possible in community activitiesMake recommendations to the Program Director of Medical Laboratory Technician and the Dean of Health Professions for selection of supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks for courses of study, and the scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilitiesMaintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/ learning strategiesProvides a professional role model for studentsOther duties as assigned to meet student, employer and program needsRate of Pay: $875 per credit hourMinimum Qualifications:The formal education equivalent to an associate degree in a healthcare or closely related fieldMinimum of 3 years as a licensed/certified Medical Laboratory TechnicianRequired License/Certifications:Currently licensed/certified as a Medical Laboratory TechnicianPreferred Qualifications:The formal education equivalent to a bachelors degree in a healthcare or closely related fieldMinimum of 5 years as a licensed/certified Medical Laboratory TechnicianFormal teaching experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Should be able to work effectively with employees and all levels of leadership within the institutionMust be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) and HRIS systemsThe successful candidate must be a self-starter who takes accountability for performance while requiring minimal supervisionMust be able to handle highly confidential material efficiently and effectivelyMust possess strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skillsAbility to build relationships with individuals and teams across the institution, campus and industryAbility to analyze information and recommend appropriate actionKnowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and proceduresKnowledge of department, operations, policies, and proceduresAbility to conduct research and perform quantitative quality assurance reviewsAbility to research, prepare, and present comprehensive written and oral reportsAbility to organize and conduct meetings and workshopsKnowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and proceduresMust be able to report clear, concise and accurate ad-hoc reports to all levels of leadershipPhysical Demands:The following physical activities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
