What You'll Do
- Build trusting, positive relationships that empower students to achieve their goals
- Support academic, behavioral, vocational, and life-skills instruction
- Reinforce and clarify instructional directions to promote understanding
- Provide individualized and small-group support to meet student needs
- Monitor student safety, well-being, and behavior across classrooms and school settings
- Encourage positive self-esteem, reflection, and independence
- Assist with crisis prevention and behavior support strategies
- Track and document student progress accurately and confidentially
- Support classroom organization, instructional materials, and clerical tasks
- Assist with therapeutic interventions (e.g., behavior plans, PT, OT) under professional guidance
- Support students during off-site instruction, field trips, job shadowing, and transportation as needed
- Uphold confidentiality and represent the school positively within the community
- Perform other duties as assigned to support student success
Education & Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent college coursework
- At least two years of experience working with school-aged children
- Training provided for high-potential candidates
- Strong understanding of child development and diverse learning needs
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-centered environment
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- A student-centered mindset with a strong service orientation
- Comfort using basic educational software and technology
- Commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
