Assist in the implementation of the program designed to meet the specific goals and objectives for each student, through the provision of individual attention, additional and/or enrichment instruction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the special education teacher, works with individuals and/or small groups of students to reinforce expectations and learning introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher and supports behavior intervention plans, if applicable.
  • Modifies materials and assist in preparing and maintaining classroom for teaching and learning.
  • Adheres to schedule, assisting students with transitions as appropriate, i.e. lunch, bathroom, specials and nurse clinic.
  • Assists in lifting students as instructed for safety from chair to and from changing table and/or toilet.
  • Assists student with toileting needs as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with service providers PT, OT, SLP, vision and/or orientation specialists to assist with meeting the physical and training needs of students.
  • Assists in tasks or student support requested by teacher or principal.
  • Assists in maintaining student records, i.e., confidentiality, charting progress with academics or behavior.
  • Complete the Oklahoma Special Education Paraprofessional Training or other State approved Local Education Agency (LEA) training.
  • Complete training in Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens Training yearly.
  • Participates in professional development and other training programs, as required.
  • Demonstrates care and concern for students through cooperation and willingness to learn.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract

FLSA Qualification: Non-Exempt

Evaluation: Jenks Public Schools Classified Evaluation

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 50 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of fingers and hands.

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
