Paraprofessional Position

Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools is hiring 1-3 paraprofessionals to work in our Title I program. The Title 1 Paraprofessional will work with students referred for Title I services under supervision/direction of certified staff in implementing individual student learning plans. Reinforces skills introduced by teachers using examples and manipulatives, visual, and auditory devices.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Working under the direction of the teacher, assist with implementation of individual student learning plans in areas of math, reading, writing, higher order think skills, and/or self-development.
  • Identify different learning abilities/styles of students. Modify curriculum to support learning abilities/styles.
  • Monitor student progress and confer with teachers to determine individual needs.
  • Serve as an in-class instruction support for Title 1 classes, including becoming familiar with content and requirements for the courses and assisting staff in planning.
  • Distribute, supervise and administer students in the completion of assignments, tests, quizzes, etc. provided by teachers and staff.
  • Proctor benchmark testing done three times a year, fall, winter and spring; attend required benchmark training sessions.
  • Provide instructional assistance and motivate students in the areas of math, reading, language, science, geography, and social studies.
  • Manage student behavior while in Title 1 classes to create a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Schedule student service time. Attend training and assistance meetings when necessary.
  • Provide confidential assistance to support the professionals in the building and need the various needs of students. Supervise in the classroom, hallways, playground, lunch room and/or bus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Work Hours: 35 per week

Work Schedule: 5 days per week (M-F); 7:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m with 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Salary Range: Compensation in accordance with the Education Support Professionals Agreement found on the website at kw.k12.mn.us under staff/employee contracts.

Class 1, Step 1 = $17.64 Education Support Professional Full Time Benefits; Benefits are prorated if between 20 and 39 hours per week

Health Insurance: Single $9180 employer contribution, Family $16,212 employer contribution; 2 plans to choose from $800 contribution toward Qualifying Health Savings Account

40,000 Life Insurance Premium and Long-Term Disability Premium Paid

403b Match: After completion of one year, employer will match up to $500 annually

Sick Leave: 15 days annually

Personal Leave: 3 days annually

Vacation: Available to year round employees-10 days annually for first 5 years of service
