Paraprofessional (Starting August 2026)

Paraprofessionals play an important role in supporting students, teachers, and classrooms. Positions may be available in both general education and special education settings.
Responsibilities May Include:

• Supporting classroom instruction and student learning
• Working with individual students or small groups
• Assisting students with academic, behavioral, social, or communication needs
• Helping maintain a positive and safe learning environment
• Supervising students during classroom and school activities
• Supporting students with daily living or mobility needs, depending on assignment
• Other duties as assigned

Assignments vary by building and student needs. Positions may include working with elementary, intermediate, middle school, or high school students.
Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, and depending on position:
• Complete 48 hours at an institution of higher education OR
• Obtain an associate's (or higher) degree OR
• Pass a State approved Paraprofessional assessment*
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
• Kansas Certification of Health

Experience working with children or individuals with special needs is helpful, but not required for all positions.
