Paraprofessional: Specialized Programming - Amazonia Elementary

Overview:

The Savannah R-III School District is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our educational team as a Paraprofessional-CNA. In this role, you will support a student with significant medical needs throughout the school day while working closely with the school nurse, classroom teacher, and other staff to provide a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized support to a student with significant medical needs throughout the school day.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, feeding, and other daily needs.
• Provide health-related care within the employee's training and certification and in accordance with appropriate medical orders and district procedures.
• Assist classroom and special education teachers in delivering instructional activities and supporting the student's participation in the educational environment.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with the school nurse, teachers, and other staff regarding the student's needs and progress.

Qualifications:

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• Completion of one of the following: at least 60 college credit hours, successful completion of the Paraprofessional Assessment, or possession of a valid Missouri substitute teaching certificate.
• Experience working with children and/or individuals with significant medical or special needs is preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with student assistance, including lifting, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, attentive, and comfortable providing one-on-one support to a student with complex needs.
• Successful completion of required background checks.
