Paraprofessional
Qualifications: Illinois paraprofessional certification such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Building Principals and Classroom Teachers
Job Goal: To assist teachers in maintaining a pleasant, well-organized environment within which the classroom can function most effectively and efficiently.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to supervise work initially presented by the teacher.
- Scores and records workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
- Guides independent work, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Keeps bulletin boards and other classroom displays up-to-date as directed by the teacher.
- Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Assists with taking lunch money before school and maintaining daily lunch records for office, if so assigned.
- Supervises noon duty in the cafeteria, playground, or as hall monitor, if so assigned.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality concerning students.
- Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.
- Performs other tasks as the principal may assign.
- Supports and implements the goals of the Board of Education.
Terms of Employment: Scheduled hours on days students are in attendance as determined by the Building Principal and Superintendent and approved by the Board. Salary to be determined annually by the Board. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the supervising principal.
