Paraprofessional Job Description
Paraprofessionals assist students and teachers to help ensure a smooth, productive school day. This often includes performing a mix of clerical, academic and behavior-management-related tasks. Some paraprofessional job description includes:
- Implement instructional plans provided by the supervising teacher
- Create and oversee behavior-management plans
- Transport students
- Supervise students in the classroom and during certain out-of-classroom activities
- Tutor students and assist in small group learning exercises
- Help with admin tasks such as copying and filing papers, taking attendance and preparing lessons for teachers
- Collaborate with other educational professionals to meet students' needs
- Some trainings through our special education department will occur
- Assist with more generalized school activities, like assemblies, cafeteria and recess
- Participate in lesson planning meetings and special education assessments
- Work and support special education students
