Position: EDP/ED INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

Position Overview
The Instructional Assistant assists the teachers in a variety of ways to implement the instructional program, including working directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Additional duties may be assigned.
- Assists teacher as needed with planning, preparation, and distribution of classroom materials.
- Conducts learning games with students according to established procedures.
- Supervision and instruction of children; copying, cutting, coloring, etc., to construct materials and bulletin boards.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Monitor students as they arrive on school bus
- Accompany and monitor behavior of students in all settings
- Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning throughout the day and deescalating verbally and/or aggressive students using applicable training or coaching techniques as necessary for student, peer and staff safety
- Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with children with emotional and behavior disabilities
- Provides individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce skills that have been taught by the teacher while managing and teaching student behavior
- Serves breakfast, snacks and lunches as necessary (daily, in the classroom, in EDP classes) xhqgsiq
- Must be able to physically manage students using applicable techniques when necessary
- Must be able to work as a team with other teachers and staff in the classroom and in EDP/ED program
Qualifications
- Current Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Recent Experience working with children in an education and behavioral health setting, preferably experience working in Special Education Emotional Disabilities classroom.
