The Paraprofessional will support special education services within a non-traditional academy setting for grades 9-12. This role focuses on meeting students' individual educational, social, and emotional needs by providing direct support to students with functional needs, collaborating with educators, and assisting in the implementation of IEPs and behavior intervention plans to foster growth, independence, and classroom success.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and oversight of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Support the use of resources and technology to promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Personalize support based on student needs and manage time to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Monitor and document student progress in accordance with district assessment policies.
  • Manage student behavior in various settings to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional learning communities to deepen curriculum and assessment knowledge.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and oral formats.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum of 60 college credits or a passing score on the Paraprofessional test (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred). Please note: GEDs are not accepted by the district.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting; familiarity with special education practices and a willingness to learn new strategies.
  • Proficient in multimedia and computer technology to support learning; strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to build effective collaborative relationships with students, staff, and families.
