Salary Schedule/Base Hourly Rate (Subject to Change): Support Staff Schedule /$15.22. Additional credit for related years of service and education. About the Role

The Kinder Prep Assistant works under the supervision of the Coordinator of Community Education and the Kinder Prep Teacher to offer individual, small, and large group activities for the licensed Kinder Prep program at District elementary schools. The program offers an affordable, safe, nurturing environment with a comprehensive approach to meet the social/emotional and academic needs of students. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implements a variety of educational activities for Kinder Prep students enrolled in the program.
  • Follows weekly lesson plans that support Kinder Prep classroom objectives.
  • Communicates effectively with school and District employees.
  • Establishes and maintains informative and supportive relationships with parents.
  • Maintains discipline, safety, and control of site.
  • Develops rapport and facilitates effective communication with students.
  • Assists with maintaining files and attendance records.
  • Ensures compliance with all Arizona Department of Health Services and Department of Economic Services regulations.
  • Encourages a high level of student participation in daily activities.
  • Maintains the facility by keeping it clean, organized, and secure, including the reporting of problems.
  • Organizes and maintains equipment and activity materials; arranges for repairs/replacement.
  • Conducts daily set-up and take-down of program furniture, equipment, and activity materials.
  • Assists students with Emergency Evacuation situations, including drills.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training as requested.
What You Need

High School Diploma, GED Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment or equivalent, 2-year college degree (AA from an accredited institution), or 60 credits toward a 4-year degree, Must have or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, through the Arizona Department of Public Safety Minimum age: 18 Must have CPR and First Aid Certification or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire Must have a negative tuberculosis test within the past 12 months or be able to obtain a negative tuberculosis test within three days of hire At least 6 months' experience working in an organized recreation, childcare, or school program Completed coursework in child development, recreation, education, or a related field is highly desirable Must have a positive personality and strong management skills Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, students, and the public. Good organizational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret educational documents.
