Paraprofessional Emergency Substitute

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the paraprofessional provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment as assigned. Qualifications include: a High School Diploma or equivalent, successful completion of para educator assessment, 60 college credits (100 level or higher), or an Associate's degree; a valid AZ substitute teaching certificate; prior experience working with children (preferred); a Valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card; general clerical experience (preferred); the ability to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds; and proficiency in the use of the English language, both verbal and written (preferred). Duties and responsibilities include following professional practices consistent with the school district policies in working with students, parents, and staff; maintaining a discipline and classroom that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with district policies; ensuring adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students; reporting to office upon arrival at school; implementing lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner that motivates students to learn and participate; reporting all students’ injuries, accidents, illness, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as reasonably possible; acting in a professional manner; and performing other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/district policies. Reports to: School site administrator. Calendar: 10 months; 29.5 hrs/week. Classified hourly (non-exempt).
