Our client is currently seeking a Paraprofessional for 5th/6th grade!
Location: Royersford, PA
This Paraprofessional provides direct support in the classroom working with students who may require assistance with communication, behavior regulation, social skills, sensory needs, and structured academic instruction. The student is in 2nd grade.
Students may use AAC devices, PECS, visual schedules, prompting hierarchies, and individualized behavior plans. The paraprofessional works closely with the teacher and autism support team to create a supportive, consistent, and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities (Autistic Support Specific)
Instructional & Academic Support
- Implement discrete trial training, task analysis, or other autism-specific methodologies as directed.
- Assist with visual supports, such as first-then boards, token systems, and picture schedules.
- Support students during academic centers, social skills groups, and structured teaching tasks.
- Model and prompt the use of communication systems (AAC, PECS, sign, visuals).
- Reinforce expressive/receptive language skills based on IEP goals.
- Partner with speech-language pathologists on carryover strategies.
- Follow behavior intervention plans consistently and safely.
- Use sensory strategies, such as sensory breaks, movement schedules, or calming tools.
- Support students during moments of dysregulation using proactive strategies and district-approved crisis intervention protocols.
- Guide students through daily routines with consistency and clear visual/ verbal prompts.
- Support transitions between activities, specials, lunch, and recess.
- Assist with functional independence goals (organization, self-monitoring, etc.).
- Participate in collaboration with teachers, BCBAs, therapists, and administration.
- Maintain accurate data related to behavioral and academic progress.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to school/district policies.
- Support classroom management and maintain a structured, positive learning environment.
- Attend IEP meetings when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure safe and effective program operations.
- High school diploma required.
- Experience with elementary students preferred.
- Reliable transportation - CAR required .
