Parapro Intervention
The Parapro Intervention works directly with the classroom teacher(s) to provide intervention programs for students who require additional time and alternative strategies in reading, writing and math.
Tasks:
- Tutor individual and small groups of students to reinforce and support learning activities
- Assist in the development of a variety of intervention materials
- Run copies and laminations for teachers
- Deliver supplies to classrooms
- Grade classwork
- Monitor and assist students in learning activities such as guided practice, repetition, and assessment
- Meet and collaborate regularly with other Interventionists
- Oversee and supervise students during intervention activities, learning labs, field trips, and on playgrounds
- Substitute in general education classrooms
- Maintain a log of daily intervention activities directly related to student achievement
- Monitor testing
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication
- Attend appropriate trainings as required
- Willing to be cross-trained in other content and skill capacities as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
- Knowledge of student learning and behavior characteristics
- Knowledge of general purposes and goals of intervention programs
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the student body, teaching staff and parent groups
- Skill in the use of personal computer and related software
- Skill in routine record keeping
- Skill in following oral and written instructions
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in an indoor environment
- Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, passing the Parapro Assessment Test
- Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- One (1) year of classroom experience preferably with children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment
Salary Grade: D Hourly Pay: $17.35 Hours per Day: 6
