Parapro Intervention

The Parapro Intervention works directly with the classroom teacher(s) to provide intervention programs for students who require additional time and alternative strategies in reading, writing and math.

Tasks:

  • Tutor individual and small groups of students to reinforce and support learning activities
  • Assist in the development of a variety of intervention materials
  • Run copies and laminations for teachers
  • Deliver supplies to classrooms
  • Grade classwork
  • Monitor and assist students in learning activities such as guided practice, repetition, and assessment
  • Meet and collaborate regularly with other Interventionists
  • Oversee and supervise students during intervention activities, learning labs, field trips, and on playgrounds
  • Substitute in general education classrooms
  • Maintain a log of daily intervention activities directly related to student achievement
  • Monitor testing
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication
  • Attend appropriate trainings as required
  • Willing to be cross-trained in other content and skill capacities as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of student learning and behavior characteristics
  • Knowledge of general purposes and goals of intervention programs
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the student body, teaching staff and parent groups
  • Skill in the use of personal computer and related software
  • Skill in routine record keeping
  • Skill in following oral and written instructions
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in an indoor environment
  • Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, passing the Parapro Assessment Test
  • Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • One (1) year of classroom experience preferably with children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment

Salary Grade: D Hourly Pay: $17.35 Hours per Day: 6
