Paralegal Position at Cole, Scott & KissaneCole, Scott & Kissane, an AV-rated litigation firm, is seeking a full-time, experienced Paralegal for its Fort Lauderdale East (Downtown) office. This is an on-site opportunity - not remote. The prospective candidate will lend support for one of our busy Insurance Defense Divisions, thus, prior civil litigation experience is required.
Experience in the area of Medical Malpractice, General Liability, Employment Law, Condominium Litigation issues is a plus and will be considered above others. Moreover, familiarity with L & A codes, billing software, and proven competency to capture time and bill according to guidelines in a timely manner, is a must. The ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure of multiple deadlines is also essential. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with clients, opposing counsel, legal professionals, and fellow employees of the firm. The position also requires strong organizational skills and the ability to perform well within a team environment. Qualified candidates must be familiar with court procedures and have extensive experience with researching, scheduling, drafting legal documents, follow-up/follow-through and filing pleadings in state and federal courts. The ideal candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills, good common sense, possess meticulous attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Said candidate must also be detail oriented, work well under pressure, along with a positive, pleasant disposition and have demonstrated a stable job tenure of two or more years in each position along with a good attendance record.Responsibilities:Record Management.Medical Chronologies.Case Management.Support legal team by requesting, analyzing and case-capture records for clients, attorneys and experts.Draft discovery response shells.Conduct case research via Internet or through local libraries.Organize and prepare both outline and narrative summaries of the records for internal use and for presentation to the client.Analyze billing material to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence. Prepare case analysis.
