ParalegalLegal Department | Non-ExemptHelp Support the Legal Work Behind One of the World's Largest ChurchesLakewood Church is seeking an experienced, highly organized Paralegal to join our Legal Department and work directly with the General Counsel in supporting a broad range of legal matters that impact the ministry's daily operations.This role offers the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of law—including contracts, employment law, intellectual property, copyright, compliance, insurance, risk management, privacy, technology, and litigation support—while helping protect and advance the mission of Lakewood Church.If you enjoy variety, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are motivated by meaningful work, this position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a collaborative legal team.Work ScheduleStandard 35-hour work weekMonday through Thursday in the officeOptional work-from-home FridaysAdditional hours may occasionally be required to support ministry needs and legal prioritiesWhat You'll DoWorking directly with the General Counsel, you'll provide legal and operational support across a variety of practice areas.Legal Research & Document PreparationConduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, summaries, and opinions.Draft, review, edit, and proofread contracts and legal documents.Assist with employment law, intellectual property, entertainment law, insurance, vendor agreements, software agreements, privacy, PCI compliance, waivers, and related legal matters.Draft policies, correspondence, board minutes, and other legal documents.Contracts, Compliance & Risk ManagementAssist with contract administration through Onit and DocuSign.Support the organization's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Assist with insurance renewals and claims management.Monitor operational risks relating to financial operations, technology, insurance, safety, security, and child safety.Maintain assumed name certificates, sales tax and use certificates, and other regulatory filings.Copyright & Intellectual PropertyAssist with trademark and copyright filings.Manage copyrighted musical works and licensing renewals.Respond to copyright requests and maintain departmental copyright communications.Assist with the removal of unauthorized social media accounts, websites, and other infringing content.Litigation & Legal OperationsMaintain case status timelines and litigation records.Assist with discovery responses and records management.Prepare status updates relating to claims and lawsuits.Report fraudulent activity occurring on social media platforms.Department OperationsCoordinate legal meetings, training sessions, conference calls, and departmental events.Manage calendars and scheduling for the Legal Department.Organize the quarterly legal internship program.Process departmental expense reports and reimbursement requests.Maintain departmental spreadsheets, timelines, and legal correspondence.Assist in supporting communication with Lakewood's international offices.What We're Looking ForSuccessful candidates will demonstrate:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and time management abilitiesExceptional attention to detailSound judgment and discretion when handling confidential informationThe ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong legal research and analytical skillsA proactive, self-directed work style requiring minimal supervisionProficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document managementExperience using legal research platforms such as Bloomberg, Practical Law, or similar resourcesQualificationsParalegal Certification or equivalent work experienceSome college preferredMinimum three years of directly related experience preferredOur MissionAs a member of the Lakewood Church team, you play an important role in helping fulfill our mission of bringing hope through Jesus Christ to people around the world.Employees serving in this position are expected to support the Church's mission, maintain a lifestyle consistent with our biblical beliefs, participate in the life of the Church, and serve as part of our faith community.
