Job Summary
Hello and Welcome to Nevada County Special Ed. This job is in a class designed primarily for students with extensive support needs that involve health care services. The regular classroom staff will show you how to access the alternative curriculum that focuses on functional academics and daily living skills. The primary goal of this class is to prepare students to function effectively in their current and future home, school, and community environments. There is a well-developed schedule for you to follow and the regular members of the classroom will be there to assist you. This class is also supported by a school nurse who comes around regularly. Additional instructional assistants are provided as determined necessary to implement developed IEPs and maintain the safety of students and staff. Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • High School diploma or equivalent --and-- One of the following: • Completion of 48 college semester units • Satisfactory completion of an approved Paraeducator test • Completion of a county approved proficiency test in reading, writing, and mathematics. Recent, successful experience working with severely emotionally, mentally, and/or extensive needs special education students in an organized setting is a plus!
