Under the supervision of an assigned administrator and direction of a credentialed staff member, assist in the instructional program for students in a variety of educational settings; provide instruction and support student growth, and be a positive role model to students in basic living skills, social interactions, and academic development. The incumbents in this classification assist in providing students with educational and behavioral support, which directly supports student learning.

Located in east San Diego County, the district is 66.3 square miles in size and serves elementary students in grades K-8, feeding into the Grossmont Union High School District. The district has approximately 16,600 students, plus approximately 800 preschool students, with 26 schools (6 middle schools, 19 elementary schools, and 1 preschool). APPLICATION & EXAM PROCESS
1. APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Submit a complete online application, including a resume (a detailed resume summarizing professional experience and preparation).
2. CANDIDATE SCREENING
Applications are screened using the following uniform and objective criteria: 1. The Education/Experience requirement(s) as indicated on the job description, and 2. The completed application with supplemental questions. Applicants are notified via email of the status of their application within two (2) weeks of the application deadline. Please make sure that you check your Spam/Bulk mail regularly.
3. EXAM
Merit Exams are by invitation only, based on screening results. Exams are for those who have submitted a classified application, meet minimum qualifications, and have provided any documents listed as required. All testing takes place at Cajon Valley Union School District's Welcome Center, 750 E. Main St., El Cajon, CA 92020. Test starts promptly at the scheduled time. Latecomers will not be admitted. Candidates will be required to present valid photo identification at sign-in before taking the exam. Personal items will not be permitted in the exam room.
The Paraeducator exam will be a multiple-choice exam consisting of Math, Reading, and Ability to Instruct. Degree, college units, or NCLB/ESSA certifications are not accepted in lieu of exams. Candidates successful in passing the multiple-choice exam will be invited to an oral examination (scored interview) conducted online through SparkHire.
Reasonable accommodations are provided in the recruitment process for disabled persons. Advance notice is required. Call for arrangements.
4. ELIGIBILITY LIST
Candidates successfully completing all phases of the application and examination process will be ranked on the appropriate eligibility list according to total examination score. NOTE: This recruitment is to establish an eligibility list that will be used to fill current and future vacancies for up to one (1) year, unless the list lacks sufficient ranks.
5. SELECTION PROCESS
When a vacant position is to be filled, we will provide the site/department Administrator with the names of the top three ranks from the eligibility list via a "Certified List". In the case of ties, there may be more than three individuals in the top three ranks. The site/department Administrator may interview and select from among those applicants certified to them. However, they are not required to interview all applicants on the certification list. Sites/Departments will call and/or email with interview details.
Failure to respond and/or report for an interview will result in removal from the eligibility list.
The names of those not selected will remain on the eligibility list.
6. OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT
Offers of employment for new employees are contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Livescan clearance, pre-employment physical, and TB clearance. Paid by the District.
