Jetson Center for Youth is seeking a patient, dependable, and student-focused Paraeducator to support instructional services for youth in a secure-care educational setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping students learn, thrives in structured environments, and brings positivity and professionalism into the classroom.
As a Paraeducator, you’ll assist teachers with daily lessons, supervise students, help prepare instructional materials, and support classroom management rooted in positive reinforcement. You’ll maintain confidentiality, model appropriate behavior, complete clerical tasks, and contribute to a clean, organized learning environment. Your presence will help create a supportive atmosphere where youth can build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and stay engaged in their education.

The Paraeducator contributes to student engagement, reinforces curriculum concepts, and ensures a safe, respectful classroom atmosphere.
Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:

Supports classroom instruction — assists teachers with daily lessons, classroom supervision, learning-environment setup, and positive-reinforcement classroom management.

Provides academic and clerical assistance — helps with filing, grading, copying, equipment operation, and accurate completion of required paperwork.

Maintains professionalism & confidentiality — protects student records, follows communication protocols, and adheres to school, facility, and agency policies.

Models positive behavior — demonstrates appropriate grooming, conduct, fairness, respect, and constructive communication for youth in secure care.

Supports classroom management — supervises students when the teacher is out, assists with supervision during instruction, and helps maintain a clean, safe learning environment.

Engages in professional development — participates in training sessions and workshops to strengthen instructional skills and support student learning.

Demonstrates reliability and integrity — arrives punctually, communicates absences promptly, and refrains from inappropriate language, criticism, or behavior.
Position-Specific Details:
Work Location: This vacancy is located at Jetson City Center for Youth in Baker, Louisiana.
Appointment Type: Full time
Compensation: $16.43 hourly
Work Schedule: The incumbent will work 7.5 hours per workday.
