PainterThe Painter is responsible for the general upkeep of all wall covering systems, including plaster, dry wall, paint, vinyl, paper, and/or cloth. The Painter also makes repairs to ceiling systems, cove bases, and painted floors, decorates and protects interior and exterior surfaces of the hospital, and constructs, repairs, and maintains furniture, partitions, bookcases, shelves, and other structures using hand and power tools.These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamels, and lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trims, and fixtures of the hospital using paintbrushes, rollers and associated equipmentProperly diagnose required repairs and correct them in an expedient manner utilizing good judgment when ordering parts and suppliesSmooth surfaces using sandpaper, wire brushes, or other meansRemove old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scrapers, and wire brushes to prepare surfaces for paintFill holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster or other fillerSelect premixed paint to match specified colorsRig staging or use a ladderSpread drop-cloths over floors and furniture to protect them from paint spattersProvide cost and time estimates on painting and redecorating jobsRe-lamp light fixtures, replace ceiling tiles, and work with other shop members in the proper identification of ductwork piping, wiring, and other needs as may ariseMaintain inventory/stock of supplies used for facility repair, i.e. shower heads, light bulbs, air filters, toilet seals, paints, solvents, etc.Maintain tools and parts in good operating condition and keeps assigned areas clean and in good overall appearancePerform all work in accordance with all Preventive Maintenance work ordersKeep records on equipment assigned showing type, model number, installation date, repair history, and/or service work performed on same equipmentMaintain all other records pertaining to job functionsPerform all work associated with the Zone Discrepancy ProgramAssist in the testing of various alarm systems, i.e.
Fire Alarm System, etc.Operate the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as trainedMake up procurement lists and prepare purchase orders for approvalKeep ample supplies of the different colors of wall covering on hand to repair torn or ripped areas as neededEnsure that adequate records are kept so that materials can be matchedTake up damaged tile and lay new pieces as requiredMaintain a clean and safe work siteUse the proper face masks to preclude both fumes and dust inhalationMaintain the confidentiality of patient, personnel, and department information at all timesComplete In-service Programs on an annual basisAttend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-servicesDemonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient careReports to: Lead MechanicSupervises: NoneResponsibilities: Not applicableTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
