Job Summary
Paints and decorates by requisitioning from inventory or placing orders. Scrapes surfaces and applies paint removers. Fills cracks and seals holes. Sizes plaster walls and places drop clothes. Mixes and applies paints.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma required
* Related experience 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
* Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
* Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services in areas where patients and visitors reside who are of various ages and developmental skills.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
* Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders.
* Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
* Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
* Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
* Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting.
* Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
* Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
* Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
* Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards
