We are hiring an Automotive Plant PAINT SHOP MANAGER to oversee the day-to-day operations of paint shop operations and ensure high quality paint finishes. You will directly manage Supervisors, Team Leaders, Material Handlers, and Paint Mixers.
PAY: $80,000-90,000 annual
Requirements for the Plant Paint Shop Manager :
- An Engineering degree or 10 years of directly relevant experience is required.
- Possess strong leadership skills and high accountability.
- Industry: Either Automotive or other high-volume manufacturers producing painted products.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing plant processes. Willing to work on the shop floor.
- Knowledge of TPS (Toyota Production System) and robotic operations.
- Specific knowledge in plastics painting, solvents, and coatings.
- Ability to manage programs and lead continuous improvement activities.
- Able to run reports and make presentations to management.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
Duties of the Plant Paint Shop Manager :
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all operations of the paint department including productivity, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Monitor paint quality and adherence to color specifications through regular quality checks. Identify quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Supervision of paint shop employees including hiring, training, delegating, motivating, evaluating, and managing employee relations. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the paint shop.
- Manage escalated issues. Analyze concerns. Perform problem solving and resolution.
- Ensure employees are adhering to systems (4M, 5S, FIFO, Kanban Pulling System, Stop-Call-Wait).
- Ensure employees are organized, workspaces are clean, plant areas are orderly, safe, and productive to work in.
- Set and manage the priorities of the paint shop schedule based on deadlines, new products, and current material availability.
- On an ongoing basis lead and promote Kaizen activities.
- Provide reporting. Analyze KPI’s and metrics. Meet with upper management to align goals with current company strategies.
- Make suggestions for continuous improvement.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing plant floor, protective equipment utilized, heavy traffic in some areas, work area may be noisy, working with chemicals and machinery. Standing for long periods of time.
