Sanford Health, one of the largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit health systems in the US, is seeking a BE/BC fellowship-trained Pain Medicine or Interventional Spine physician for a full-time position in Fargo, North Dakota. This role offers the opportunity to join a supportive multi-subspecialty hospital-based Pain Medicine group dedicated to health and healing. The position involves comprehensive pain management, including procedures, medication management, and collaboration with various specialties.

Practice Info

  • Multi-subspecialty hospital-based Pain Medicine group
  • Supportive team of two physicians and four advanced practice providers
  • Multi-disciplinary practice style including procedures, medications, psychology, sleep medicine, physical therapy, integrative health, and nutrition
  • Four procedure rooms in hospital outpatient based department (20-30 procedures/day)
  • Largest pain clinic in North Dakota, seeing about 1500 patients per month
  • Strong referral network from both internal and external providers and strong relationship with Neurosurgery

Responsibilities

  • Manage medications including non-opioid & opioid for select patients
  • Manage patients with intrathecal pain pumps
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to adolescent and adult patients with acute and chronic pain or pain requiring palliative care
  • Perform invasive pain medicine procedures beyond basic pain medicine

Shift & Schedule

  • Outpatient service weekdays only
  • No call on weekends or evenings

Requirements

  • BE/BC fellowship-trained Pain Medicine or Interventional Spine physician
  • Completion of Pain fellowship and residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, Psychiatry, or Anesthesiology
  • Comfortable with performing a broad range of spine procedures including epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, and radiofrequency ablations
  • Willing to manage patients with intrathecal pain pumps
  • Interested in managing pain through procedures, medications, psychology, sleep medicine, physical therapy, integrative health, and nutrition
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency in Anesthesiology, Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Radiology, Internal Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program and completion of a fellowship in Pain Medicine in accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training
