Engineering Support For PackagingResponsible for providing engineering support for all packaging ideas at Kewaunee Scientific Corporation. The successful candidate will deploy problem solving skills to resolve packaging issues, reduce variability, and increase efficiency in all areas of packaging and shipping. This position will work closely with the Operations Leadership Team to execute the packaging/process strategy, including equipment selection and operator training, for their assigned areas. Primary responsibilities will focus on development of cost-effective packaging designs as well as driving continuous improvements. S.) in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or Industrial Engineering and 5+ years of experience in a factory setting directly supporting manufacturing. Broad working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques in relation to packaging and shipping operations. Should have a proven track record of experience in data analysis and problem solving to include the use of run charts, Pareto analysis, PFMEA, 5 Whys, 8D, and other problem-solving techniques.Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information in oral and written form to top management, staff members, and line employees.Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Other qualifications: Applicants should be able to demonstrate hands on experience of utilizing data and proven problem-solving techniques to implement and sustain solutions that realize tangible improvements in safety, quality, and costs. Applicants must have prior working experience with formal quality management systems. Applicants must be well versed in Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD / SolidWorks and previous powder coating experience / exposure is desirable.
