The Packaging Engineer designs, develops, and implements innovative packaging solutions that protect products, optimize manufacturing efficiency, and meet customer requirements from concept through production.
We're looking for someone who
* Holds a bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (master's degree preferred)
* Has 3+ years of experience in packaging engineering
* Is a subject matter expert in packaging materials including corrugated, foam, corru-plastic, and wooden crate solutions
* Has strong experience designing packaging using SolidWorks, Artios CAD, AutoCAD, and Adobe Illustrator
* Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing processes and packaging production methods
* Has experience creating prototypes and validating designs through testing
* Possesses strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
* Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
* Thrives in a fast-paced environment and manages multiple priorities effectively
* Is bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
What you'll do
* Design packaging solutions using CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Artios CAD
* Develop packaging that protects products during transportation, storage, and handling
* Conduct feasibility studies and validate packaging designs through fit, drop, and performance testing
* Create prototypes and mockups using CNC cutting equipment
* Prepare customer drawings, production specifications, and engineering documentation
* Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and raw material records within the ERP system
* Prepare packaging cost estimates and pricing for the sales team
* Coordinate production tooling and support first article inspections
* Implement design revisions and maintain engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle
* Collaborate with Sales, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Customer Service, and manufacturing teams to support customer requirements
* Ensure packaging solutions are cost-effective, manufacturable, and meet quality standards
* Support continuous improvement initiatives that optimize materials, processes, and production efficiency
