We are seeking a Packaging Engineer II to support packaging design, development, testing, and validation. This role will focus on implementing packaging changes, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and providing technical support to manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and execute packaging validation protocols and reports to support packaging changes in accordance with ISO 11607 and applicable ASTM standards.
• Design, develop, and test packaging that protects products during handling, storage, and distribution.
• Establish packaging specifications based on product requirements, cost constraints, regulatory requirements, and environmental conditions.
• Identify and lead packaging cost reduction initiatives targeting savings greater than $100,000.
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing teams on packaging systems, equipment, and machinery.
• Troubleshoot packaging issues and support improvements to manufacturing processes.
• Manage packaging documentation and support compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver packaging projects from design through implementation.
• Support packaging prototypes and manufacturing line development as needed.
• Consider product identification, printing methods, and production requirements when developing package designs.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant packaging engineering experience.
• Experience preparing packaging validation protocols and technical reports.
• Working knowledge of ISO 11607 and applicable ASTM packaging standards.
• Experience identifying and implementing packaging cost reduction opportunities.
• Knowledge of packaging systems, manufacturing equipment, and machinery.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing personnel.
• Strong technical writing, problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
