As an Owner’s Superintendent/ Representative, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating maritime operations at a designated port. Your responsibilities will include ensuring safe and efficient vessel movements, managing port facilities, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of maritime operations, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Vessel Operations Management:

  • Coordinate and oversee vessel movements within the port, including arrivals, departures, and berthing operations.
  • Plan and allocate resources to ensure timely and efficient handling of vessels, cargo, and personnel.
  • Monitor weather conditions, navigational charts, and port restrictions to ensure safe operations.
  • Communicate with ship captains to provide guidance, updates, and support as needed.

Port Facility Management:

  • Manage port infrastructure, facilities, and equipment to ensure optimal utilization and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with terminal operators and other service providers to ensure smooth cargo handling operations.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, security protocols, and environmental standards.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance port efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Promote and enforce adherence to safety procedures and regulations within the port area.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant maritime regulations, port bylaws, and international standards.
  • Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement preventive measures.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead a team of port operations personnel.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among team members.

Requirements

Must be a US citizen or demonstrate the right to live and work in the USA.

Possess a Master Mariners License or Chief‑Engineer (Class‑1) License.

5-10 years of vessel operations or sea‑going experience.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Self‑start and ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks with moderate supervision.

Working knowledge of modern navigation software.

Familiar with regulatory requirements and vessel inspections.

Experience supervising a large group of employees, training, and employee development.

Willing to work on weekend/evening, onboard vessel at port.

50% time sailing on‑board ship as owner’s superintendent.
