Job Title: Overnight Lumber Operator

Location: Lonsdale, Minnesota

Schedule: Full-Time, Overnight Shift

Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM

Pay: $20 – $25/hour (based on experience)

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable Overnight Lumber Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will operate saw equipment, handle lumber materials, and ensure accurate cutting and organization of materials used in production. This position requires the ability to work independently, maintain quality standards, and safely operate forklifts and automated equipment throughout the night shift.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with lumber products, saws, or forklifts and be comfortable using computerized cut lists and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select and load the correct lumber into production equipment

  • Set up and safely operate saw equipment to meet production requirements

  • Monitor cuts, measurements, and labels to ensure accuracy

  • Organize and separate materials and wall bundles for production crews

  • Track completed work and communicate material shortages or production issues

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Operate indoor and outdoor forklifts to move lumber and finished materials

  • Follow production schedules and complete work with minimal supervision

  • Work as part of a two-person team to meet daily production goals

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Experience operating forklifts and saw equipment

  • Ability to work overnight hours consistently

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret measurements

  • Knowledge of dimensional lumber sizes including 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x10, and 2x12

  • Familiarity with SPF lumber, treated lumber, fire-treated products, and specialty materials

  • Ability to read lumber stamps, labels, and material descriptions

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working around automated equipment

  • Ability to lift, move, and handle lumber throughout the shift

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current forklift certification

  • Experience working in a lumberyard, truss plant, manufacturing facility, or similar production environment

  • Experience following computerized cut lists and production schedules

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
