Responsible for coding inpatient accounts with a balance less than $90,000, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Inpatient Coder will perform coding, DRG assignment, and abstracting medical records while ensuring compliance with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS standards during regular daytime hours, Monday through Friday. Key responsibilities Code inpatient accounts and assign appropriate DRGs for reimbursement Abstract medical records and collect predefined indicators for statistical purposes Communicate with physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and documentation issues Required qualifications Registered Health Information Administrator, Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Outpatient Coder required Associate's Degree in Health Information Management preferred; Bachelor's Degree also preferred 3 years of inpatient coding experience preferred
