Job Summary

The Manager, Outbound is responsible for directing and coordinating activities of outbound warehouse workers engaged in selecting, loading, stacking, checking and shipping foodservice and food-related products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
• General Management – responsible for all night shift operations; plan and monitor ways to reduce shrink and develop policies to help night shift operate more efficiently.
• Operations Management – develop and promote goals and objectives, maintain communication with other departments, analyze and identify solutions to issues with night warehouse operations, and work with Inventory Manager to maximize utilization of slots and cube, optimize travel time for picks.
• Warehouse Function Management – oversee order selection and loading, ensuring customer special specifications are met.
• Human Resource Management – assess training needs, provide training, evaluate employee performance, give feedback and coaching, manage employee relations and disciplinary action; review team’s CMPs regularly.
• Safety and Security Management – enforce FreshPoint Safe policies and procedures, reduce injuries, damage and loss.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline preferred).
• Experience: 3 years operations/warehouse experience in shipping and receiving perishable product, minimum 1 year supervisory experience or a combination of education, supervisory and industry experience.
• Skills: Knowledge of shipping practices and procedures, planning, organizing, analyzing, proficiency in inventory software (AS400) and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
• Decision Making Authority: Most important decisions made fully independently; counsel employees, assign daily tasks, enforce safety compliance, reject inferior quality products, manage personnel schedules. Some decisions require review and approval of other individuals or supervisors (e.g., headcount changes, terminations).
