Orthopedic Surgery Service Line Chief Opening in NY Located in Cooperstown, New YorkAbout the Position An integrated academic health system in Central New York is seeking an experienced Orthopedic Surgeon to serve as Service Line Chief of Orthopedics. This leadership opportunity combines an active clinical practice with administrative responsibility for the strategic growth, clinical performance, and expansion of orthopedic and podiatry services across an eight-county region.Position Highlights -Full-time employed leadership position-0.7 FTE clinical / 0.3 FTE administrative-Maintain an active Orthopedic Surgery practice-Total Joint specialization preferred-Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Orthopedics and Podiatry-Lead development and execution of system-wide orthopedic growth strategy-Expand joint replacement and musculoskeletal programs-Oversee staffing, workflows, and clinical operations-Drive quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives-Lead physician recruitment, retention, and professional development-Manage financial performance and resource utilization-Optimize facilities, provider coverage, and referral networks-Opportunity to expand subspecialty services and regional market presence-Academic environment with teaching and professional development opportunitiesDepartment -11 orthopedic physicians, including 9 surgeons and 2 non-operative physicians-2 podiatric surgeons and 2 podiatrists-13 Physician Assistants-Comprehensive surgical and non-surgical orthopedic services-Total joint replacement-Spine-Sports Medicine-Trauma and fracture care-Shoulder and upper extremity-Foot and ankleCompensation & Benefits -$925,000-$1,100,000 annual salary-$200,000 sign-on bonus-$10,000 transition bonus-Additional performance-based compensation through Chief Incentive Plan-Comprehensive onboarding program-Generous PTO-CME and professional development opportunities-Medical, dental, and vision coverage-403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans-Employer retirement contribution ranging from 4% to 11% for eligible physiciansQualifications -MD or DO-Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery-Eligible for New York State medical licensure-Fellowship training strongly preferred-Total Joint fellowship/background preferred-Minimum 7 years of postgraduate clinical experience in an academic or community-based orthopedic program-Minimum 5 years of successful physician leadership experience, such as Medical Director, Section Head, Chief, or Associate Chief-Demonstrated success developing or growing clinical programs and service lines-Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills-MBA, MPH, or MHA is a plus
