Sanford Health is seeking a BE/BC Orthopedic Surgeon for a hybrid role at Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center (BHOSC) in Rapid City, South Dakota. This position offers a mix of trauma and general orthopedic practice, including both acute and cold trauma, as well as elective orthopedics. The role involves a collaborative team-based care model within a growing market.
Practice Info
- Hybrid role to include trauma and general orthopedic practice
- Mix of trauma and general ortho
- 2-3 clinic days with 20-25 patients per full clinic day
- 2 OR days at Black Hills Surgical Hospital, block schedule available
- Mixed inpatient and outpatient care
- Team-Based Care Collaboration with advanced practice, physical therapists, athletic trainers and primary care
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examination
- Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care for patients of all ages
- Provide nonsurgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders (at least 70% of time in practice)
- Perform primary and revision total hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty
- Perform arthroscopic procedures (knee, shoulder) and treat sports-related injuries
- Provide general orthopedic care across all age groups

Shift & Schedule
- Monday-Friday
- Shared call rotation: 1:8 for Ortho urgent care and after-hours call
- APP supported call
Requirements
- BE/BC Orthopedic Surgeon
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years' duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency
- Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed residency within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training
- Demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months (if not applying directly out of residency)
