Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon

Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon to join its hospital-employed practice. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead and expand a high-demand sports medicine program, supported by a strong referral network and a well-established orthopedic group. The ideal candidate will have expertise in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, with an interest in developing services for elbow and hip arthroscopy.

Practice Info

• Hospital-employed practice
• Part of SOMC Orthopedic Associates
• Staffing includes 6 providers, 8 clinical staff (CMA, LPN, Ortho Techs), 4 front office, 2 surgery schedulers, radiology, and athletic training support
• Call schedule is 1:4
• Case load of 25-40 patients/day in clinic
• 4-8 procedures/day in hospital

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the sports medicine service line
• Perform advanced procedures such as shoulder and knee arthroscopy
• Perform complex ligament reconstruction and/or revision
• Perform meniscal debridement and repair
• Perform chondroplasty and cartilage restoration
• Perform rotator cuff/labral repairs
• Manage community trauma including long bone, periarticular, pediatric, periprosthetic, and hand/foot fractures
• Perform primary and revision joint arthroplasty including knee, hip, and shoulder replacement

Shift & Schedule

• Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM
• No evening or weekend office hours

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon
• Fellowship-trained in sports medicine
• Expertise in shoulder and knee arthroscopy
• Interest in expanding services to include elbow and hip arthroscopy
