Ortho Trauma - Full Time NP/PA

n Major Responsibilities:n

n 1. Obtains health history, performs physical exams and assesses normal and abnormal findings as related to age appropriate physical, cognitive andn
n emotional patient status.n
n 2. Obtains, records and maintains a problem-oriented health history utilizing dates for initial occurrence and resolution of problem.n
n 3. Initiates emergency measures to stabilize an emergent injury or illness and arranges for continuing definitive care.n
n 4. Orders and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated by patient illness and practice protocol.n
n 5. Initiates and records appropriate therapeutic interventions as outlined in the established protocols.n
n 6. Monitors and alters drug therapies as needed.n
n 7. Provides information to patient and family to ensure an understanding of the diagnosis and treatment at hand.n
n 8. Evaluates and records patient information and family responses.n
n 9. Performs minor procedures to include:n
n - incision and drainagen
n - wound care and debridementn
n - suturing of lacerationsn
n - removal of mole, warts, cysts, and other minor skin lesionsn
n - removal of foreign bodies if accessiblen
n - any other procedure within the PA scope of practicen
n 10. Provides the opportunity for open communication with the patient, family and other health care providers.n
n 11. Assesses patient and family needs and assists them in formulating plans to carry out prescribed medical regimen.n
n 12. Initiates referrals to appropriate facilities and/or agencies including physicians, hospitals, home health agencies, hospice, etc.n
n 13. Follows-up with referrals.n
n 14. Manages and assists patient and family with chronically ill patient maintenance.n
n 15. Responsible for own professional growth through continuing education.n
n 16. Participates with the Emergency Department Quality Improvement activities.n
n 17. Observes and adheres to Patient’s Bill of Rights as related to patient care.n
n 18. Uses effective guest relation techniques.n
n 19. Follows established guidelines using appropriate infection control techniques and safety measures during PA interventions.n
n 20. Continuing Educationn

n Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:n

n - Valid, active unencumbered Physicians Assistance license approved by the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners for GA locations and Alabama Licensing Board for AL locations.n
n - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant - NCCPA Certificationn

n Education Required:n

n Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant programn

n Experience Required:n

n At least two years as a Physician’s Assistantn

n Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:n

n Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:n

n Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking forn
n extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with visionn
n and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints withn
n irregular working hours.n
