Oracle Database AdministratorAs the DB Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration of program ops and non-ops Oracle database. DB administration includes facilitating creation of databases, providing database tuning, and monitoring database security, performance, and utilization. This position must proactively monitor the database systems, recognize issues, and provide solutions that prevent or minimize customer impact.

These issues are often difficult and complex and may require innovative solutions such as design and development of scripts, tools, and utilities to ensure operational credibility. You will perform the process of database security in compliance with the client's policies, translating these policies into database settings.DB Administrator responsibilities include performing all necessary procedures for the program. Specific development, test, and ops responsibilities include:Lead all efforts related to the design, maintenance, and administration of multiple classified database technologiesRecommend then implement new database solutions, products, and/or standards in support of program goals & operationsEvaluate, install and test database management systems (DBMS) upgrades and patches for DBMS software, application software, and other software related to DBMS administrationWork with the system administrators for hardware and software installations and configurations, participate in the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate hardware and software resources for databasesSupport program requests - data copies across environments, data cleanup, query tuning, etc.Support projects/initiatives related to data acquisition, processing, and utilization through Big Data PlatformWork with end users to identify and resolve issuesAnalyze current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilitiesParticipate in 24/7 on-call support, as neededBasic skills include:Strong experience administering Oracle database technologiesStrong experience with Oracle productsExperience applying security patches and upgradesExperience with addressing database outagesExperience maintaining SQL databasesDesired skills include:Oracle DB CertificationOracle RAC experienceOracle RMAN experienceFamiliarity with Redis or other key-value storesFamiliarity with Java Database interfaces (JDBC, Hibernate)Familiarity with working in containerized (Docker, Kubernetes) environmentsExperience with maintaining high availability production databasesFamiliarity with infrastructure automation tools (ex: Ansible)Experience with database architecture and designFamiliarity with migrating on-prem databases to a cloudExperience with tuning and optimizing databases and queriesFamiliarity with Atlassian tool-suite (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket)Strong troubleshooting skillsDemonstrated Agile Development methodology experienceProven experience with database performance tuning techniques, and the ability to effectively communicate solutions with stakeholders, as well as apply themUnderstanding of Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Assurance (IA) policies such as ICD503 to ensure system security and data integrityExperience with database scripting languagesExperience with general scripting languagesProficiency with multiple operating systems (Unix, Linux, Windows)
