Travel OR Technologist - Contract Assignment
Location: Herrin, Illinois
Facility: Herrin Hospital - Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH)
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: July 6, 2026
Schedule: Days | 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 4 days per week
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Call Requirement: One weeknight and two weekend days per month, with a rotating weekday off.
Position Overview
Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) is seeking an experienced Operating Room Technologist to join its surgical services team at Herrin Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a respected non-profit healthcare system recognized for excellence in cancer, cardiac, stroke, bariatric, rehabilitation, and imaging services.
The OR Technologist will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures by maintaining sterile technique, preparing operating rooms, assisting surgeons, and ensuring safe, efficient patient care throughout the perioperative process.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for scheduled surgical procedures
  • Maintain sterile fields and open sterile supplies
  • Assist with patient transport, positioning, skin preparation, and draping
  • Assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, instrumentation, and suturing needs
  • Perform and maintain accurate instrument, sponge, and suture counts
  • Handle specimens according to established protocols
  • Clean and decontaminate instruments and equipment following procedures
  • Support efficient room turnover between cases
  • Monitor and restock surgical supplies and equipment
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room Technologist experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • Active state license, if applicable
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or NCCT) preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent qualifying experience
  • Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
