Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The surgical technologist intern is a member of the surgical team who works closely with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, and registered nurse in delivery of patient care pre-operatively, intra-operatively and post-operatively. Acts in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards as prescribed by the Governing Board, Hospital Administration and Patient Care Services of Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION :
High school graduate or equivalent. Acceptance in Beaufort Memorial's PATH program for OR Technology. Completion of didactic portion of Medcerts TS-C program.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:
Completion of 30 OR clinical cases where applicant will first scrub with at least 4 different specialties represented.
Recommendation from PATH Faculty.
EXPERIENCE :
Entry level position
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to communicate effectively with all staff.
Demonstrate good problem solving skills.
Strong organizations skills and effective time management.
CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES:
BLS required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association)

- Surgical Services within the hospital. May be stressful dealing with individuals, staff, patients, and family. Potential exposure to radiation/toxic materials. Regularly exposed to Blood Borne materials (Category I) or Chemical Hazards.
- Prolonged, extensive or considerable walking and standing. Assists with lifting, transport and moving patients. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Rotating shifts. 8-12 hour intervals. Available for call.
