Location: Winterhaven, CA 92283 and Polacca, AZ 86042 (when required)

Shift: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Pacific Time)

  • Estimated Start Date: Pending Award and Completion of Credentialing Process

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $70.00
  • Travel weekly stipends (If applicable): $1,246
  • Please keep in mind that payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.

Contract: 6 months - 1 year with an option to extend

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Optometrist to provide comprehensive primary eye care services in an ambulatory care setting. The ideal candidate will perform eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, and deliver high-quality, patient-centered vision care while maintaining compliance with IHS and facility standards.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active, unrestricted Optometry license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Minimum of2 years of recent experience in primary eye care or ambulatory optometry
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), if required by the facility
  • Experience documenting patient care in an Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain IHS credentialing, clinical privileges, and security clearance
  • Authority to prescribe medications and perform procedures within granted clinical privileges
  • Compliance with continuing education and mandatory training requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams, vision assessments, and refractions
  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, vision disorders, and related eye conditions
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, and treatment plans within clinical privileges
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic testing and minor ocular procedures
  • Document patient encounters and treatment plans accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Coordinate referrals to ophthalmology or specialty care when appropriate
  • Maintain compliance with IHS policies, infection control, patient safety, and quality standards
