Your Role on the Team Involves collaborative care with the Cornea Service in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of primary anterior segment diseases. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and managing diseases, injuries, and disorders of the eye and associated structures, as well as recognizing systemic conditions that may affect ocular health. Specifically, performs comprehensive eye examinations and screening assessments to evaluate visual function, identify ocular abnormalities, and assess anterior segment conditions. Diagnoses ocular conditions and prescribes appropriate treatment to preserve or restore vision. Obtains, analyzes, and documents relevant clinical history and examination findings. May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff members. Provides patient education regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and chronic management of anterior segment conditions, including cataract and dry eye disease.
This position is located at UCI Health Gavin Herbert Eye Institute – Brea (380 W Central Ave, Suite 400, Brea, CA 92821) and is a 50% appointment.

Required: Thorough knowledge of optometry and skills essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to this position. Thorough knowledge of eye diseases diagnosis. Must be able to effectively communicate findings of examination to patients. Finish Requires strong communication and presentation skills. Position must be able to work with diverse client group. Position must be able to provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff members. Must be able to work in a collaborative manner with staff, faculty, and members of the health care community across the campus. Requires effective interpersonal skills. Thorough professional skills in delivering eye care, treatment, and diagnostic services to patients. Doctoral degree in optometry issued by an accredited school / college of optometry. Licensure by the California State Board of Optometry. A minimum of 5 years of experience.
