Role Description The Optometrist will provide full-scope optometric care, including comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, and prescription of eyeglasses and contact lenses. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, performing refractions and diagnostic testing, interpreting clinical findings, and educating patients on treatment plans and preventive eye care. The Optometrist will collaborate with support staff to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive experience for every visitor. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Osceola, AR, with a focus on delivering high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of Arkansas.
- Clinical proficiency in comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions, and prescribing corrective lenses.
- Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive language.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient scheduling, documentation, and follow-up care.
- Commitment to continuing education, staying current with advancements in optometric care, technology, and best practices.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in charting, prescribing, and adhering to regulatory and professional standards.
- Experience in a private practice or clinical setting is preferred; residency or additional training in medical optometry is a plus.
