Role Description

This is a full-time or partime, on‑site Optometrist role based in Orange, CT. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, and prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction solutions. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, using diagnostic equipment, providing medical eye care for conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease, and coordinating care with other providers when appropriate. The role also involves educating patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care, as well as documenting findings accurately in the practice’s record systems. The Optometrist will contribute to a collaborative team culture and support a high standard of patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of Connecticut.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive eye examinations, prescribing eyewear and contact lenses, and managing common ocular conditions.
  • Experience with diagnostic technologies (e.g., OCT, visual fields, retinal imaging) and evidence‑based clinical decision‑making.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings and treatment plans in a clear, patient‑friendly manner.
  • Commitment to patient centered care, including attention to detail, empathy, and professionalism in a diverse patient population.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and maintain accurate, thorough clinical documentation.
  • Willingness to participate in practice growth activities, such as community outreach, patient education initiatives, and process improvement.
  • Prior experience in a medical or primary eye care setting is preferred; residency or advanced training in medical optometry or specialty contact lenses is a plus.
