Operator-In-Training
We're looking for a motivated Operator-in-Training to join our water/wastewater treatment facility team. You'll learn and develop the skills needed to operate and maintain treatment processes, monitor equipment, collect samples, and keep accurate records — all while working toward your first-level water/wastewater treatment certification. This is a great entry point for anyone looking to build a long-term career in utility operations.
Pay: $23.00- $25.00 per hour DOE
What You'll Do
- Learn and gain skills in equipment maintenance and plant servicing operations
- Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water, wastewater, sludge, and effluent
- Operate valves, gates, pumps, engines, and generators manually or by remote control to adjust flow and treatment processes
- Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels; observe and report abnormalities to supervisors
- Maintain shift logs and record meter and gauge readings
- Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses
- Perform routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
- Follow oral and written directions; maintain cooperative working relationships
What You Need
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout an 8-hour shift
- Comfort working in environments with noise, machinery, confined spaces, fumes, and chemicals — all required PPE provided
- Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to safety
Nice To Have
- Knowledge of engines, pumps, and related equipment operation and maintenance
- Basic understanding of biological and chemical principles related to water treatment
- General maintenance experience and safe work practices
