Operations Supervisor Pipe Welding US-CT-GrotonThe successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. The position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat's business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced trades-person to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development.Roles and ResponsibilitiesLead the activities of approximately 15 Pipewelders in the performance of purging, welding and inspecting Pipe Joints on board submarinesPrimary point of contact to interface with Engineering, Ships Management, Quality and other trade departmentsLead the team to achievement of company goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process ImprovementTake ownership of team performanceAssign work, provide technical expertise, instruction, mentorship, motivation and performance assessment of your Employee(s) while working aboard submarines under construction and repairLead self-assessment audits, commit to schedules and maintain product qualityAttend various administrative responsibilities, such as LMS, Quality documentation, work completion documentation, etc.May be required to qualify and maintain Nuclear Trade and PRCS trainingResponsibilitiesAbility to build a strong, cohesive team and drive them toward a high level of performanceAbility to analyze performance data, formulate process improvement ideas and continuously improve performanceAbility to communicate with all levels of the workforce and managementGood interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal skillsAble to climb and work aboard submarines under construction or repairUnique Skills:Ability to adapt to challenges while remaining calm in a constantly changing working environment, all while remaining compliant to technical and procedural constraints.Core Competencies:Safety, Communication, Building Trust, Directing Others, Managing Priorities, Listening, Production/Results, Pipe Welding, Perseverance, Technical Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Managing & Measuring Work, Stress ToleranceQualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or GEDPipe Welding experience, including welding with consumable insertsMust be able to work all shifts and travel as requiredMust meet one of the following:Minimum 1 year trade experience at electric boatMinimum 3 years combined relevant experience and leadership experience in a high-volume settingMinimum of 1 year EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related fieldPreferred:BS in Engineering5+ years of relevant experience1+ years of tig welding experienceKnowledge of management tools (i.e., MRP, Artemis, EWP or other EB specific tools)
