General Statement
Sports Facilities ( is responsible for the management of all sports facilities at Montana State University including the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Bobcat Stadium, Hoseaus Fitness Center ( HFC ), Shroyer Gymnasium and the Bobcat Tennis Center. These facilities are multi-purpose and meet the varied needs of the campus and the community. The department provides services for Athletics, Rec Sports, and Health and Human Development, as well as hosting many events/concerts that come to campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Working as part of the Sports Facilities Operations Team and reporting to the Operations Manager, Operations Specialists work to successfully execute events. This position is responsible for the on-site management and coordination of event operations staff and equipment during day to day activities and on event days. Works individually or with the team to:

Perform duties related to set-up/tear-down, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of day to day and special operational equipment.

Equipment includes such things as the basketball floor, seats, bleachers, tables, chairs, stage, pipe and drape, operation of related vehicles, podiums, etc.

Assist with Bobcat Stadium facility operations, turf management, and ice/snow management

Event specific: supervise a crew of up 30 students and up to 35 stagehands ( may assist with hiring, training, scheduling, etc)

And actively contribute to the success of the department by performing other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Experience in event and building operations or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
-
Experience setting up, operating, maintaining and/or troubleshooting operational equipment (examples: bleachers, stage, chairs, pipe/drape, etc).

Experience providing excellent customer service to a variety of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Advanced degree and/or certification in a related field.

Experience working in a University setting and/or athletic facility.
-
Leadership/Supervisory experience coordinating, scheduling, and directing the work of others.
-
Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, man-lifts, tractors, and pickup trucks. Please list any certifications.

Experience with event production.

Will work outside in inclement weather.

Will work evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, and occasional holidays as the event schedule demands.

Will work all home football games.

Must have or be able to obtain certification for the operation of a fork lift, scissor lift, and boom lift.

Occasionally will plow/shovel snow.

Drive both manual and automatic shift vehicles.

Move about or traverse facilities and fields for long periods of time.

Push, pull, lift, bend, crawl; move up and down stairs; go up and down a step ladder; be comfortable getting in and out of tight spaces; and be comfortable working at heights.
