About the Company

Our client is an established, multi-office mechanical contractor that has made a long-term commitment to the Phoenix market, with a permanent office in Phoenix. The Arizona business has a strong book of work, upcoming projects in the $50M to $250M range, and a plan to double in size. Core markets are data centers, advanced manufacturing, and aerospace and aviation, all within the Phoenix metro.

The Role

The business runs two operations manager positions. The Field Operations Manager leads general superintendents, superintendents and manpower. The Office Operations Manager leads the project management teams and the financial side of the business. This search is for the Office Operations Manager.

You will take over day-to-day leadership of the PM team from the regional leader and work hand in hand with the Field Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project management group: senior PMs, PMs, APMs, project engineers, project coordinators and summer interns
• Oversee the financial side of a book of business across multiple projects
• Bring and implement your own proven system for managing a team (the company will teach its own systems and processes)
• Work closely with the Field Operations Manager to deliver projects
• Spend time on site as needed; sites are around 30 minutes from the office

What We’re Looking For

• A background in the mechanical PM track (PE, APM, PM, senior PM)
• Experience managing a very large project or multiple projects at once, with PMs under you assigned to different areas or scopes, and responsibility for multiple financial inputs
• Strong mechanical construction experience; you understand the work and can walk a site. GC experience is welcome as part of the mix
• Ready to step in and take ownership from day one, without a long ramp-up
• Interested in managing a book of business, not only a single mega project
• Hungry, growth-minded and ready to step up
• Data center, advanced manufacturing or aviation experience is a plus
• Strong senior PMs ready for their next step are encouraged to apply
