Operations & Inventory Manager

WCI | Lutherville, Maryland | Full-Time

WCI is looking for a highly organized, driven Operations Manager to lead the movement of merchandise through our growing specialty retail business. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who likes to make things happen. You’ll own the process of getting new product from delivery to the selling floor quickly, and accurately—while keeping inventory, stockrooms, backstock, and operational workflows under control across multiple locations.

We’re especially interested in entrepreneurial people who see what needs to happen and act. The right person is naturally organized, moves with urgency, enjoys improving systems, and takes pride in getting a tremendous amount accomplished in a day.

What You’ll Own

Product Receiving & Merchandise Flow

  • Lead the receiving, verification and processing of incoming merchandise.
  • Ensure new product is unpacked, ticketed, organized and moved to the appropriate location quickly and accurately.
  • Coordinate the flow of merchandise between receiving, backstock, e-commerce and selling floors.
  • Partner with store teams to prioritize high-opportunity product and get new arrivals in front of clients quickly.
  • Manage transfers and movement of merchandise between multiple company locations.
  • Identify bottlenecks and continually improve the speed and efficiency of product flow.

Inventory Control & Organization

  • Maintain accurate inventory and investigate discrepancies.
  • Lead cycle counts, physical inventory preparation and inventory adjustments.
  • Maintain exceptionally organized stockrooms, backstock and product-processing areas.
  • Develop systems that make merchandise easy to locate, replenish and manage.
  • Help reduce inventory errors, misplaced product and unnecessary handling.

Restocking & Sales Floor Readiness

  • Ensure selling floors remain fully stocked and presentation-ready.
  • Establish efficient replenishment routines and priorities.
  • Work closely with store leadership to anticipate product needs based on sales, events and seasonal demand.
  • Support merchandising resets, product launches and seasonal transitions.

Team Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and develop the team members responsible for receiving, processing, placement and replenishment.
  • Set clear expectations for productivity, accuracy, organization and pace.
  • Plan team logistics and allocate team hours based on incoming freight and business priorities across multiple locations.
  • Train team members on operational standards and continually improve execution.

Who Will Thrive Here

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • Highly organized. You naturally create order and can keep many moving pieces organized at once.
  • A doer. You enjoy being on your feet, solving problems and getting things accomplished.
  • Entrepreneurial. You don't wait for someone to identify every problem or provide every solution. You notice opportunities and take ownership.
  • Driven by growth. You want to improve the business, your team and yourself.
  • Fast without sacrificing accuracy. You understand that in retail, getting product to the floor quickly matters—but getting it right matters too.
  • Resourceful. When something doesn't work, you find another way.
  • Accountable. You take ownership of results and follow projects through to completion.
  • Team-oriented. You understand that great operations exist to make the entire organization more successful.

We value candidates who can tell us about systems they've improved, problems they've solved, teams they've developed and measurable results they've produced.

Experience We're Looking For

Prior experience in retail operations, inventory management, stockroom leadership, merchandise processing, fulfillment, receiving, logistics or a related operational environment is strongly preferred. Fashion, apparel, specialty retail or other fast-moving product environments are particularly relevant.

Experience leading people and managing competing priorities is important. Familiarity with POS, inventory-management or retail technology systems is a plus.A college degree is welcome but initiative, judgment, work ethic and demonstrated results matter more to us than a specific degree.

Physical & Transportation Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position and is not a desk-based operations role.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Regularly stand and move for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry and move merchandise and cartons weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, climb and perform the physical tasks associated with receiving and stocking merchandise.
  • Work comfortably in stockrooms, receiving and retail environments.
  • Have reliable personal transportation and be able to travel between multiple company locations as required.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means product moves faster, inventory is more accurate, stockrooms stay organized, selling floors stay replenished, and the entire company operates more efficiently because you're here.

We are a growing, entrepreneurial retail company with 17 years of proven results. This role has meaningful ownership and visibility, and we are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to be a part of building on our success into new channels.
