Operating Room Registered Nurse

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery

We are proud to recruit an Operating Room RN who will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of patients in the operating room. The RN will provide care within nursing standards of practice and hospital policies, make direct patient‑care decisions, communicate with physicians, patients and families, and collaborate with other departments. The role may include additional duties as directed by the OR Director or Board Runner, such as committee service and participation in quality improvement audits and projects.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the operating room.
• Provide care within nursing standards of practice and hospital policies.
• Make decisions regarding direct patient‑care needs and communicate appropriate information to physicians, patients, and other personnel.
• Collaborate with other departments and OR personnel.
• Serve on committees and participate in quality improvement audits and projects as directed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Currently licensed in the state.
• CPR required.
• Advanced life support certification required.
• One year of experience in an intra‑operative setting.
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
• Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
