Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology Division ofPediatric Anesthesiology has an opening for a full-time PediatricAnesthesiologist at the faculty rank of AssistantProfessor/Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice. The chief responsibility of thedepartment is to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations and painful invasive and diagnosticprocedures. The University of Colorado affiliated hospitals havetop nationally-recognized physicians delivering the best possibleanesthetic care and a full range of perioperative careservices.

The primary clinical site for this position is the Children'sHospital Colorado (CHCO) in Colorado Springs, CO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Duties in this faculty position will include primarily clinicaland occasional teaching and service responsibilities. Some of thespecific responsibilities will be as follows: The attendingpediatric anesthesiologist will personally provide anesthesia care100% of the time. He/she will examine the patient before and afteranesthesia, write pre- and post-anesthesia orders, confirm that thepatient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manage theanesthetic period, and follow the patient for as long as isappropriate in the post-anesthesia period. The scope of anesthesiafor this position includes most pediatric subspecialities includingbut not limited to pediatric surgery, ENT (including craniofacial),urology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, trauma, gastroenterology, andacute pain. He/she should also be comfortable with regionalanesthesia.
  • The candidate will primarily perform these services in theoperating room or in radiology and will take their shareof in-house and pager calls. Candidates are also expected tocontribute to the teaching needs of the Department and the Schoolof Medicine primarily through occasional medical student and felloweducation at the bedside. There is no expectation to contribute tothe research missions of the University.

The candidate must have a strong working and theoretical knowledgeof Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and experience inteaching Anesthesiology.

Qualifications:

All attending anesthesiologists must be licensed to practicemedicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either inthe examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiology("board eligible") or a Diplomat of the Board in bothAnesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology, or to be holdingcertification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalentto a diploma of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Maintenanceof Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA) participation is requiredfor all board-certified faculty.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time ofhire.

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record ofcollaboration and ongoing success.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology andPeri-operative Medicine
  • ACLS and PALS certification are required at time of hire, ATLS isrequired within one year of hire date

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for thisposition has been established as HIRING RANGE:

  • Assistant Professor - $352,000
  • Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice : $352,000

The Colorado Springs practice uses a clinical day equivalent(“CDE”) compensation model to determine total compensation suchthat variable pay is available for additional compensation of up to$213,000. The CDE model also follows a unique but very competitiveleave program.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents theUniversity's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range ofpossible compensation at the time of posting. This position is noteligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
