Seeking a full-time remote Open Source Database Administrator, the ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases in bare metal environments while ensuring database reliability, performance, and recovery strategies. Key responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases in bare metal and on-premise environments Own end-to-end database architecture, including replication, clustering, failover, and recovery strategies Analyze failure scenarios and develop robust mitigation plans while collaborating with application and infrastructure teams Required qualifications: 7+ years of hands-on experience managing MariaDB and PostgreSQL in on-prem/bare metal environments Deep understanding of database internals, replication models, and recovery mechanisms Proven experience implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategies Expertise in performance tuning and query optimization Proficiency with Linux-based systems administration and familiarity with automation tools
